“March Thaw”
It seems impossible for me to believe that I painted “March Thaw” fifty years ago !
It was between 1975 and 1976 that I painted many of the barns just north of Toronto . My escapes to the country opened my eyes to the great Gems of the Ontario Landscape…the enormous handcrafted Barns that housed everything from hay , to cattle , sheep and of course Chickens !
Soon I discovered that many were destined for demolition to make way for suburbia !
I couldn’t paint them fast enough!
Paintings like “March Thaw” were often sold on weekends at Outdoor Art Shows ! Yes, they hung on lengths of snow fencing and by the end of the day they were all sold !! To my dismay I was able to pay my rent and keep on painting !
How blessed I was to be able to paint the surroundings that I truly loved . Inspiration was unending .
And now on its Golden Anniversary I feel equally blessed that The Niagara Image Gallery is able to present this to you ! Here’s to Spring 2025 !
Sincerely,
Trisha
